Logan Stanford founded Stanford Financial in July 2020 at the age of 22 and has since built it into a national award winning brokerage recognised across the industry for its innovation, client experience, and diversified professional services model.
From the Army to Broking
Logan’s path to mortgage broking began after an injury sustained during his time in the Australian Army led him to seek a new way to make a difference. He studied Business Law at the Australian Defence Force Academy and went on to work in asset finance at a car dealership, where he quickly found himself frustrated by having access to only four lenders to compare for his clients. That frustration was the catalyst. A chance encounter with a broker customer opened the door to a new direction, and Logan launched Stanford Financial in July 2020.
“I absolutely loved helping my clients, and I knew that if I structured debt correctly, I could really help people achieve their goals,” Logan has said of what drove him to make the move.
National Recognition
In 2022, just two years after founding the business, Logan and Stanford Financial won two awards at the MFAA National Excellence Awards: the Best Newcomer Award and the Diversified Business Award. Winning both in the same year was widely noted across the industry, with Logan describing it as a genuine shock given the calibre of other nominees. Stanford Financial has since settled over $500 million in loans for clients across Australia.
Building the Stanford Group
Driven by a vision to create a vertically integrated professional services group that could improve every aspect of a client’s financial journey, Logan expanded into legal services by founding Stanford Legal. The decision came directly from client need. He describes a moment of being on three phones simultaneously, talking to a lender, a conveyancer and the lender’s solicitor at the same time trying to get a settlement across the line. The other parties did not share the same sense of urgency, and the client experience suffered as a result. Stanford Legal was the answer.
Logan now leads both Stanford Financial and Stanford Legal, overseeing a team of finance and legal professionals united by a commitment to what he calls “white glove service at scale.” Stanford Legal has since grown to become a significant contributor to the group’s overall performance in its own right.
Qualifications and Credentials
Logan holds a Bachelor of Laws, which he recently completed, and studied Business Law at the Australian Defence Force Academy. His qualifications and his firsthand experience navigating both the finance and legal sides of property transactions give him a distinctive perspective that few managing directors in the brokerage industry can claim.
Approach to Client Service
Logan’s approach to client experience is deliberate and measurable. He has spoken publicly about thinking of his ideal client experience and then working to deliver something ten times better. Stanford Financial conducts an After Action Report on every matter, identifying areas to fix, improve, and sustain. That operational discipline, borrowed in part from his military background, underpins the consistency clients experience across every Stanford engagement.
Outside the Office
Logan is a vocal supporter of the veteran community and has been publicly active in backing initiatives that recognise the service of current and former ADF members.
